Los Angeles alt-pop singer WENS has dropped her anti-Valentine’s Day track “Beauty Queen” just in time. On the track, WENS reflects on unrequited love as she sings of an unattainable crush. “I wrote this song about having a big crush on a guy who was 10 years older than me. Every time I thought of him, I had this whole fantasy built out in my head like ‘imagine if we met in high school and how perfect it would be.’ That’s where the lyric ‘you make me want a time machine’ comes from. I was this sad 18/19 year old who just wanted this guy to give me some attention,” WENS says of the single. The dreamy and textured new track follows her earlier singles “Cinderella” and “Rich & Famous” ahead of her upcoming EP Lemoncholy, which is set to be released via R&R/Warner Records on March 6th.
